Breakfast at our excellent campsite, then back down to join the Velo Rhôna cycle path along the river. Even more vineyards today and it looked as though the harvest was underway. Along the riverside plain there was also a lot of different agriculture.
We stopped off at Vienne to have a wander around the town and see some of the old Roman sites, after a bite to eat we went and had a look round the Roman museum which gives a really good description of the history of the area. It was a bit too hot going round some of the outdoor exhibits some were glad to get back on the bikes for some breeze.
Since Grenoble we have been following immaculate cycle paths and quiet roads, however they don't seem to have quite finished the route into Lyon. After Givors we ended up on a really rough riverside path, followed by a main road, followed by some uphill singletrack with a wee pushy bit, then some more singletrack along the riverside with some dodgy loose bits to test your bike handling skills. It was great fun!
A quick stop for some refreshments at Vernaison wee hit some seriously steep but fairly short climbs and followed a most unlikely route straight to our campsite. The loading of our route into our garmins has really paid off on this trip.
